Shelly Fryer
This week we had to a review over a wonderful talented educator Shelly Fryer! (Pictured to the left) Shelly works in the Oklahoma City inner schools with most children being homeless. With this known it would seem to be that educating these children would be extremely difficult. However Shelly has a mission to create a community within her school. And once this is accomplished then learning may fall into place. I looked at a few of Shelly's articles and there was something to be learned from each. One of her blog articles was inspire by the Dwyane Reed video. My take away from that blog was just have fun and let the kids find something that inspires them and motivates them to learn. I liked how she let her studnets find their inspiration and motivation for the year and that she took what inspired them and created something fun that she knew that would help them.

This was my favorite one to read about because this isn't something that really any school or classroom does. The concept is that students for one day break away from regular class and literally play. This is to stimulate creativity and let the studnets be comfortable with working with one another. I loved how this is something the studnets will like to do but it's actually teaching the studnets whether they know it or not. another blog article was about the importance of incorporating technology into the classroom and how it should enhance learning. Without having this class to teach us all these tools we as future teachers would have no idea how to incoporate iPads into the classroom to enhance learning. But from her article she gave apps and examples of what current teachers could start doing to incoporate technology into the classroom. Shelly puts also phenomenal examples up as well with what she made with the apps. Overall, Shelly Fryer holds a wealth of knowledge for future educators. |
